From KEN’S PEN
The LTC Experience
Words are the combination of sounds that symbolize
and communicate meaning. In order to adequately
convey our thoughts, it is necessary to choose words
that best describe the way we think and feel. In seeking
out a means by which to relate the experiences of my
first trip to the LTC convention in Mobile, I have
attempted to paint a picture using a few of the choicest
words derived from our weekend of activities.
As you review these words, feel free to be as
creative in your interpretation as you dare: Awesome,
kind, friendly, enterprising, skillful, solemn,
understanding, cold, windy, hungry, thirsty, tasty,
confused, tested, strengthened, reminded, yellow, roar,
ruff-ruff, biblical, shipwrecked, overboard, godly,
Christlike, magical, loud, quiet, fast, slow, hurry, wait,
start, finish…chirp-chirp.
Now that the picture has begun to take shape,
imagine what it would have been like to experience the
event for yourself. Wouldn’t it have been great?!
Where else could you have tested your physical and
spiritual capabilities, while at the same time growing in
your awareness of God and His glory? In terms of the
impact that it would have had on your outlook and
overall sense of purpose, I suppose that you might have
concluded that the momentum rendered us“Unstoppable”!
“Unstoppable?” Can you really conclude—just on
the basis of a weekend endeavor—that our cause has
become unstoppable? Of course not! The weekend
simply serves as a barometer in forecast of the good
things that are just beyond the horizon. If you look at
our young people and only see inexperience and
awkwardness, you are not seeing what I see. When I
look at our young people, I see a world of opportunity
and promise. I see future elders, deacons, teachers,
encouragers, and ministers—I see leaders! Who
knows what kind of impact these young people will
have for the cause of Christ in their lifetime?
With this season of LTC activities behind us, we
have yet another glimpse into the future of the Cullman
church! May God bless us as we support and encourage
our children’s development in the here and now!
